Iranian Security Forces Arrest Kurdish Activists Amid General Strikes.
The Islamic Republic’s security forces have continued arresting citizens in western provinces, targeting those involved in recent general strikes in Kurdish cities.
On Wednesday, Milad and Nariman Randani, two brothers from Saqqez, were detained without judicial warrants.
Jalil Mohammadi, a labor activist from Sanandaj, was also arrested at his home.
The arrests appear to be connected to the general strikes protesting the death sentences of Kurdish political prisoners Varisheh Moradi and Pakhshan Azizi.
Following a call to action from six Kurdish political parties, these work stoppages disrupted businesses in Sanandaj, Saqqez, Marivan, and Divandareh.
Sources from IranWire report that security forces have maintained a heavy presence in Saqqez, deploying law enforcement personnel along the city’s main thoroughfares.
Human rights organizations have reported at least 11 arrests since Wednesday.
The detainees’ whereabouts and the specific charges against them remain unclear.
Human rights groups describe these arrests as part of a systematic crackdown aimed at suppressing protests and neutralizing general strikes in Kurdish cities.
