Four Iranian Prisoners Executed in Yazd Prison for Drug Offenses.

Four prisoners were executed on Wednesday in Yazd Prison for drug-related offenses.

Haalvsh human rights website identified one of the executed prisoners as Ahmad Sasouli, a 28-year-old father from a village in Sistan and Baluchistan province.

Sasouli had been arrested five years ago in Ardakan on drug charges and was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Ardakan.

He was transferred to Yazd Central Prison’s quarantine section on January 20 and executed without a final visit from his family.

The identities and specific charges of the three other executed prisoners remain undisclosed.

The United Nations Human Rights Office reported that the Islamic Republic executed 901 people in 2024, including 31 women.

Many of the women executed were convicted of murder while defending themselves or their family members from domestic violence, rape, or forced marriage.

Although most executions were for drug-related offenses, the UN also reported that political dissidents and individuals connected to the 2022 protests were among those executed.
